Japanese New Year foods

-- English follows later---

my new year shrimp!

Today is the new year day.

As Diwali in November is the biggest new year festival in India,
this western calender new year is just a one day holiday here.

Yet, it is surely a special day for me.

We, Japanese have special foods only for New Year days and i made some of those.

Shrimp is a must for new year day.
This is boiled and marinated in a soy source base source for a day.

White and red color combination is the celebration color.
So, with carrot and radish, I made pickles-like dish, called "Namasu" as well.

Besides this, the must of the must for the new year is Rice cake.
Japanese society had rice cake party in December and was yummy yummy.
Of course, I had the rice cake today as well!

Japanese Rice Cakes. I think this is very special only for Japanese!
